Apr. 2nd, 2011 05:05 amBusy doing last minute hacky re stock for the store before I go. Slept lots lately, oddly. But instead of dropping like a rock mid afternoon for 4 hours, 40 minutes later I'm good.
Still getting used to the changes of voice, and how I sound, and to some degree, my face, since the puffiness from sinuses and such has dropped SO much.
Figured out, I think, all the errands I need to do once I drop my luggage in Haarlem, it's a few hours there and then back into Amsterdam to get some notebooks, and sim card and plan for my phone, and I think I've figured out which provider to use.( mostly because their info's easy to FIND)
The day after, I leg off to Nijmegen for two weeks, minus dashing into Ams. for class, and overnight in Haarlem, and back. Oma leaves on the 16th, and then I spend the rest of my time in Amsterdam or Haarlem depending on who wants to put up with me.
Basically all that's left is laundry, packing and getting some prescriptions. I'm alternately terrified, and thrilled. Terrified mostly on a language basis. Part of doing this is simply there's no real place to advance my dutch here, and later courses are only 5 weeks, and I can also pick up some books that just can't be had here. and the immersion.
Lungs still a bit aggravated from the surgery, but recovering. They gave me laughing gas, which did fuck doodly all for me. Good to know.....I think it did aggravate my lungs a bit. They gave it because I was getting freaked out by the inability of them to get the IV line ( resident kept 'forcing" the fricking needle and my hand is STILL a mess of bruise) and that it was BRUTALLY chilly in the room. I kept yelling at him that they'd get no vein if my hands were cold and PLEASE USE A HEATED BLANKET but the fucker wasn't listening. So I kind of went into a panic attack so they tried the nitrous, which did NOT fucking HELP.
Everyone was great except that goon, and his superior DID give him quite the reprimand for it, so all's well.
I'm very tired of people trying to get blood from my veins when its chilly. I seriously don't fucking know, do they not teach the concepts of hypothermia in med school any more?
