dog recovery
Jun. 9th, 2010 07:30 amSera's definitely feeling better. Not 100% but more like her loopy self, more perked up, and lo, her head feels so cool, we were joking you could roast an egg on her forehead, and now? its not. So maybe she did have a trucking fever going.
Her appetite is returning, ravenous for not having eaten much for a few days. I'll swing by the vet and get more mushyfood, and once she's off antibiotics, get her back to kibble.
we haven't heard from the vet re her bloodwork so either it wasn't critical or they're not done, but I'll ask when i swing by.
Going downtown today to do the horror: shop for a swimsuit.
So much to do, and the days just whip by.
Unnerved by the current dutch elections also going rightwing. Is this the In trend now? I know it won't last, and people are just feeling tetchy and panicky and reactive but is closing ourselves off from everyone and hiding under our beds the answer? It sure seems to be, with anti immigration/anti foreigner/anti muslim/anti antheist sentiments flying around of "roust them out and punish them!"
I know the dutch issue stems from a lot of anti muslim sentiment. People tend to ( everywhere) stick to "their own kind" and we experienced this in halifax, we stuck to ourselves because no one wanted to extend that greeting hand.
I do think the dutch method of expecting everyone new to pass something of a language/culture exam is fair, tho the implementation's a bit weird there. and learning the language of a new country and finding the nerve to USE it, is quite intimidating. It is why I'll be doing that 3m course. I should have the certification done now, R would likely be able to have 3-5 years to pick up and pass the language exam. I would be better served by getting it NOW.
And why, someone asks, would we do this with a perfectly good life here? Well, family there that I quite like, and the ability to travel and see and do, and the moderate lifestyle, and the less blast furnacey weather. i want to live where travel doesn't require flying, or car.
Remorseless eating machine is awake and mooching for food. I've become adept at pilling the hound, but lucky for me she isn't all that picky, either. no incident yet of the antibiotics upsetting her usually tectchy belly so that's a mercy.
