crabbydog and taxes
Jun. 11th, 2010 11:04 amyesterday was a slow rolling tide of good news.
1. Passed my dutch level 2 class. Not a great shocker but yay for confirmation.
2. I might be recieving a "hush money tax kickback" from the ONT government, like most of the residents of, for the HST thing. We don't tend to buy high ticket items, that simply, the HST change doesn't bother me in the least. I guess it should, but it really doesn't. I recall working in the days of a 7% gst and a 7% pst, so a 13% combined doesn't really register. Not that I want to be taxed more, but seriously, if it's going to fund vital services...good.
However it's harper in office, and he of the rules for thee but not for me, and his proroguing of government despite promises not to, and cutting waste, by building a fucking fake lake on the fucking real waterfront...le sigh. We have our corruptions too.
3. Sera's bloodwork came back and there's nothing really wrong aside from a low grade infection, we think it's her rubbed raw snoot, and we cleaned it, and slapped on polysporin goo when it seemed that it just wasn't getting to a healing stage on its own with the oral antibiotics.
This annoyed dog MOST severely, and she is now in the phase of recovery known as "oh for fucks SAKe leave me alone." So she's getting better. more bouncy, more exasperatingly, adorably, Sera.
in just under 4 weeks we're off to Vegas, and I finished 7 necklaces yesterday. some were in partial assembly, but 3 were from start to finish.
So gonna walk dog, go mail stuff, and then come here and bring my enameling studio plans under budget, because some of that tax moneys is going to get this launched. If all goes well I should have some custom pendants to sell at con.
Soon I'll be able to start stuffing cash away for the europe long haul. I have a minumum, but i won't say no to going over that!

I've started to come to some acceptance again that we might not have kids. I mean, I don't like the idea, but here we are and this is the reality of it all...I honestly don't see us having one. I can't even picture it in my head. Perhaps this is my way of properly locking THAT little idea in the mental basement where it belongs. Maybe the appt in 2 weeks will say different but I am just OH SO skeptical. i find myself battling with it more and more as the specialist's appt with the post miscarriage test results looms.
Maybe I should distract myself with more travel planning.
yes, that'll work!
On that front, if its a 6hr or less train/bus ride to one of my weekend destinations, then train or bus. If it's over that, and most fall into either 6 hr or 12 hours by train, the 12hr ones will be on short flights. I'd rather do the train ( less fuel usage by 1/3 or more) but when you have but 4 days.
I think only 2 would require a flight: venice, and Prague.
anyway. off to walk hound, hit the post office, come home and list stuff, and then make stuff, and sort merch into "duplicates I can send in advance to becca and beau," and start assembling valerian's re stock of my stuff too.
the amount of stuff i have righ NOW is what I started with for last year's con, maybe more. So we're well ahead on that, for a change.
