Cant sleep. Exhausted. Hurting. Fucking post partum joint-pain/tendonitis. Ugh.

up till 4 am sneezing, congested, aching, ( allergies and general body-whompedness). Just as I doze off, S wakes "food! in the foodhole!"

I suppose it was too much to ask that R could take a night feed now and then. Off to bed and hoping we all sleep in now. Today is going to be close to home and lots of naps.

Reading about yet another family that's opted to refuse chemo for a kid with cancer because they want to go "NATURAL!!!!". The state attempted to take custody but they took off. State has given up. It sucks the kid's likely to die because her parents fall for this shit but perhaps its a nice object lesson in why medicine generally works. Chemo isn't fun but I can tell you I babysat a 9yr old who soldiered on through it and lived, and lives now. She's 30 now.

And I'm grateful I live in a country where, FSM FORBID my kid ever get that sick, we have doctors and Sick Kids mere blocks from us. There's nothing I wouldn't do for him, even if it'd really suck. I don't like seeing him cry when vaccinated but they are important. It amazes me how many adults can't seem to muster up the balls to be the fucking parent when need be.

Took Stirling to a author brunch today, got to hear Commander Mike Hadfield speak, unlike the bookstore signing where they didn't mic him and I didn't hear a thing. Amazing man. We should hold up people like that as the rock stars they are. :D Stirling was very well behaved, even as the posh-literary set at our table seemed less than enthused about his presence, the woman next to me constantly was stink-eyeing me.

He didn't cry, or whine, he played with dad's plate, mucked around a bit with the table cloth, and passed out happy as it gets. My kid rocks.

OK, off to try this sleep thing. We don't have any plans, maybe some groceries ( out of MILK!) and basically a lazy day. Tuesday I have to be at the studio early to get a ton of work done, and next week we're off to Alberta so I have to at some point drag out the luggage and travel-crib we got.

If we had the means I'd be calling in someone to watch stirling today while I slept, I feel that shitty. Swell.
