Dec. 7th, 2013 10:56 pmDay at studio, 3 hrs of work time, built three band rings, including one monster of a band ring, a mens sterling silver BEAST of a ring. Worked on my gold ring, and tiny error I have to go in tomorrow and fix but its not TOO difficult if I'm careful.
Looking at supplier's "Finished" jewelery for pieces I can buy and alter/gemset/cut to make more original. It sort of seems cheaty but it might be the best option yet? we'll see.
Going to build a couple of the small brass box trinket boxes as they weren't overly difficult, and people really liked the one at the bench. Do a couple of the fishypendants, basically overload the damn double-length booth and hope to fuck this works.
Tomorrow is breakfast with Cmmdr Chris Hadfield, and 3 other authors. Going to pack Stirling's daybag and have a shower and crawl into bed because I ACHE from dealing with some of the thickest metal gauge I've ever used.
There's a certain zen to doing the band rings over and over and over, and I'm getting better at it the more I do these things. Set a lapis in a delicate bezel perfectly. Things are generally going right.
And next term while I do have an increased workload, I also have more studio time and so we'll just have to use that as much as possible. Most of teh work I do can be done at home once I'm set for soldering work, at least.
I am getting over the guilt of leaving Stirling in dad or sitter's care so I can work, there's this little voice that always asks "are you sure you're not ignoring him! run home!" augh. My future as a financial contributor to this little madhouse hinges on me getting work done TOO.
