Facccck.
Dutch class tonight was sort of aggravating. I find I miss the Amsterdam course methods, ( clear. simple.) Instructor here often uses a far more complex spoken structure than we're used to, leaving us blankfaced.
She MUMBLES too. Its just goddamn infuriating. the first three levels were not like this and on the break several of us were "what the hell, between level 3 and this one 4, there's a leap."
if I hadn't taken the ams class I'd be rightly fucked over my head right now.
One student asked her to do something, write the words on the board, and she said "No." But, student said "its easier for me to learn two words that sound similar if I can SEE them spelled."
I pointed out that giving us grammar worksheets is all well and good but without the accompanying page of examples/how to parse, it's hard. In ams we got the example page and the worksheet page. She says "but you should KNOW THIS." yes. we should but....she doesn't EXPLAIN it. EVER.
I'm pretty unhappy with this teacher now. and Its fucking annoying. Willfully insisting on your own teaching methods despite student requests for clarification? really now?
I have no idea what happened. I guess my amsterdam instructor really rocked the casbah, raised my expectations because while I was challenged there, i never felt frustrated with the material.
Ah well. get the cert, 4 more classes, then I'll continue with the ones at UvA, since they're only 5 weekers from here on out. Just means keeping up studies. Means getting that grammar workbook in its entirety.
