Today went to the Teyler to see one last new exhibit on Gadgets and Games. funny seeing stuff from my childhood and not so distant past, in a museum exhibit on the "evolution" of computers, phones, typewriters, music players, viewfinders...Now I feel OLD!!!

Spent some time in the cafe nursing a cappucino, and thought yep. I could really get used to being here. Went to the Grote Markt, had lunch, got some inexpensive nickel free jewelery, a ring and a bracelet, and a steel ring on clearance for R. I hope it fits but if not, it was only 2 euro.

Yes it does seem odd that I'd BUY costume jewelry but hey, sometimes you want steak and lobster, sometimes you want a hot dog, right?

Started herding stuff into suitcases, and weighing them as I go to make sure neither is over the max. Oma got snafu'd at the airport being 4 kilo over and I know I'm paying for extra baggage, and lo I guess the discount is if you arrange it online, and well I don't think I have that money on VISA so I will pay cash le sigh.

Tomorrow, a day of willynilly sightseeing in Amsterdam and some shopping, and then home for the evening to study and relax. Sunday, lunch with the relatives, do laundry. Monday some last minute shopping here, and packing up, and tuesday is final class, and straight to sleep so I can be bright eyed for an 11 am flight that takes me from Amsterdam to Paris, paris to Toronto.

I can get by mostly in dutch during my travels out. My fam still seem flummoxed that I'm not fluently able to speak but uh, they're also using a lot more of a colloquial style that i am not familiar with. Or enid who INSISTED on translating.

( and people tend to mumble as a rule so it can be very hard to understand.)

Anyway. Also when i get home, continue to eat sanely. Think I'll stop the salt fiendery and cut back on the carby things, just to see if that helps. I have awesomely toned legs, and arms are good but oh this lizardbelly HAS TO GO. Thank prednisone for that to some extent. It makes you pile on the weight around the middle.

( my bemmel fam are absolutely terrified of "sweets" in a way that's almost laughable. I guess tompouces are the devils handiwork.)

wow this is frightening: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/6sx0mz/www.drgreene.com/blog/2011/06/02/nightmare-food-pyramid-journey

Granted I don't eat perfectly ALL the time but if people think this is healthy, western society is FUCKED.

Not that I don't see obese people here, there are a few. And I'm not ANTI fat, ( well I'm anti ME being fat because it is clearly not good for me) but seriously.....

Anyway.

Have my addresses mapped out for tomorrow and an early start to hopefully not wait in too long of lines at Anne Frank House.

My musuem card has more than well paid for itself.

Hope to be home by mid afternoon, and then sunday its a special "sending the crazy canadian girl home" dinner, and monday, finish packing and studying. Tuesday, one last trip in to Amsterdam, maybe one last musuem visit and some shopping, and then home.

R's stuff, I plan on putting in one bag when I get home, and then handing it over and standing clear.

SO with lots to do, and a novel gnawing away, time to write, then zonk out for an early start.
