May. 8th, 2011 12:56 pmJ and I joked we'd start a "cooking with your dutch granny" show, when I regaled her of the cooking she and pa chris offered up in bemmel.
Oma's very picky. I made a lowfat chicken stew and she proceeded to pick at it for being "heavy and rich".
But her idea of cooking:
1. meatballs: cook until well done. Then simmer for an extra ten minutes till dry. Heat for an extra few to be sure there's not an ounce of moisture.cool. Serve.
2. Green beans: boil till soft. Heat for an extra ten minutes to be sure. Let cool and serve.
3. Oatmeal: heat for 10 seconds in the microwave. Let stand for 10 minutes to be sure it's not too hot.
4. Tea: heat water. dip tea bag in for three seconds, and serve, after it has cooled for ten minutes.
Under NO circumstances shall food be served: with seasoning, salt, pepper, oil or fats of any sort, no spices. No sugar.
Granted I lost like 7 lb but holy crap. Cold oatmeal. Dry meatballs.
I have fantasies of curry and thai right now.
