Apr. 14th, 2011 12:54 pmOff today after a late sleep in! to the Teyler Museum, or at least as far as I can walk it. I should find some info on busses. Haarlem is small, at least.
Tomorrow is Chris's birthday. Not Pa Chris in Bemmel. Not his son, chris. Not chris in canada, but on this side of the fam, ( my grandfather's side), chris. Not sure of the relation but yeah, Chris. Hans. The two names that are insanely overused in this wacky mess.
Saturday might see a jaunt into Amsterdam, since I've barely had a chance to see any of it yet. gasp! shock! and tuesday I'll also finally go in early to sightsee, before class.
But mostly it looks like I won't lack for anything to do, or people to meet up with, so that's nice.
And solitude at home, not tiptoeing around Oma and Pa Chris, who are just...yeah. nuff said.
It amazes me how much people think the Red Light District is THE place in Amsterdam when its possibly the blandest, boringest. I mean, yay, drugs and sex and booze but its kind of "so? so what". Its at least smart to pen it into that one area, and then the rest of the city's free of the stupid, relatively.
But then wanton drugs and sex never appealed to me. I live in canada, we can smoke up, and drink too. I suppose its more a draw where people are still so panicked over pot.
Chris just stopped in, and is all "hey, have a good walk, theres busses". So yeah not so much with the coddle. Bliss.
Walked to the teyler museum of what one could call a delightful trove of steampunkesque goodness. Got my museum card, and 4 more visits anywhere, it'll be paid for. Easy, I think.
walked 7km today and my feet hurt. Snorfed a big mac, MEAT MEAT OH GLORIOUS MEAT and free wifi. Judge me if you like, I care not.
Anyway. I know the bus to catch to zip me home at night, and everyone here's happy to let me free to go where my feet may take me. Ahh, its wonderful.
