Mar. 31st, 2011 11:27 pmBusy day of errands, got the mail, got splashy new passport, got luggage scale gadget, (really shoulda had one ages ago), then off to a quick doc's appt, then the rigamarole of getting a mail in ballot for the election.
If anyone whinges that its TOO HARD to get to their polling station, bite me. Picking up an advance ballot is an exercise in serious aggravation.
The building they are in closes at 6pm and so I try to buzz in, but no one has any clue what's going on, then its another half hour of proving who I am ( I get it but REALLY?).
So if I can go ALL the way out of my way to pick up my ballot, you surely fucking well can, my fellow canadians, GET your ass to a polling station. no, seriously. I'm tired of people my age NOT voting, then crying when the oldies vote in the same old, because they have larger turnout. Your single vote may not change things but lots of single votes DO, and if you all whinge "nothing changes" and stay home, well, yeah, of course nothing changes you slacktard.
In light of how many countries are pushing for democratic elections, and the right to vote, one would possibly also think now's a good time to exercise that delightful privilege of birth you have being canadian and being allowed to vote.
I think the only election I haven't voted in was a municipal halifax one, but we were leaving soon after it was done, and I'm fairly sure we didn't qualify either. But every provincial, and federal? you better believe it.
All that's left for travel prep is to finish hacky stock, clean up, do laundry, pack, fill some prescriptions.
The Elections canada guys were "wow, you're REALLY canadian, both coasts and some in the middle." I suppose so! They were also tickled that someone under 70 was in to get a ballot, and was "i'll be considering candidates over the weekend and making my choice". I don't really adhere to any strict party line, aside from NO NO NO NO NO CONSERVATIVES NOT NOW NOT EVER NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.
