Aug. 2nd, 2009 12:18 pmYesterday did a fairly successful run on bead shops, and got some gorgeous new pendants to attach to gorgeous new chains. I picked up a bullet pendant and I'm not sure I'd list it on etsy since there's way too many "got my panties in a bunch" sorts who flag stuff they find distasteful to their ideas that Etsy is all cute and wibbles and happy bunnies.
Maybe I will, on the other hand.
We have some ideas for extra display hardware, and I'll only be lugging display stuff in my luggage, the stock is going down ahead of me. Just easier that way.
If r can't go, I may call on a few people to lend a hand, in exchange for $ or merch, or eternal undying gratitude. ( I pay a fair wage, BTW, I wouldn't need someone there all day everyday, but if people want to swing by so I can use the loo or fetch food, or catch an occasional panel, it's easy spending money.
We're going to go out today for cheap lunch, a new pet tag for Seradog, and some plants. R hung some paintings and art about and it's looking almost homey in here. I long for a small potted tree of some kind to break up the insane amount of space we have here.
Once Dcon is over, we can look at getting a proper mattress for us, for the bedroom, and relegating the sofabed to guest use. Oh yes, we can has guests!!!
Tomorrow is a stat day, and I didn't know about that. Yay extra days off? Well, for R. This 8-4 dealie he works, M-F seems to work well for him.
We need some shelving, too. Not much. The massive "stuff purge" turned out to be so liberating, we don't have so much crap to deal with and life is easier for it.
I dare say that we've reduced what we own by about 90%, after a few moves. I highly recommend doing this.
Off to walk dog monster and get moving. ( R also gave me a starbucks tag with $40 on it. Sweeet.)
My back is healing up. After 4 hours of walking yesterday I was almost in tears, but a good whack of sleep has worked wonders.
Found a strand of gorgeous metal beads yesterday, but at $35, if the owner couldn't even say what they're made of whilst doing the hard sell haggle, I walked. Dude. ( I think he knew and was just being weird and evasive).
Maybe I will, on the other hand.

There's bitching, then there's action.
Aug. 2nd, 2009 01:15 pmThe elevator banks here are wonky, and it's a busy day. It's a bit of a wait, which isn't fun, it's sweltering, but honestly not the end of the world.
There's a line up for the elevators, and lo, paramedics arrive, gurney in tow. SHIT. One group slams the elevator door and takes off rather than empty out to let them have priority.
The freight elevator arrives, locked off for moving and we instantly yell "paramedics! " and they get on their way after what's probably a bit of a wait but they go.
Then two more people arrive ( one on a scooter, one just obese like whoa) and they start bitching HOW INCONVIENIENCED they are and how someone outta sue, and as an after thought to cut their jackassery "oh, it must suck for others too" and how rude everyone is that disabled and paramedics and such don't get priority!
I point out that before they arrived, paramedics did infact, GET priority.
Scooter woman is up and down those elevators almost every hour, so why the howling?
Granted, there's a LOT of use today, and there are lots of families and we're running at 50% of the elevators in access. I'm not assuming the management is ignoring the issue but the two dumbasses seemed to think there was consipiracy!
Anyway, the paramedics were charmed by sera politely moving out of their way.
We also ran into some old weepy eyed poodles ( why do old ladies own weepy eyed teacup poodles?) and they barked their fucking heads off. Sera gave an annoyed "WUF!" which settled matters.
