More shootings in halifax in the weeks we've left, than I think overall in Toronto. ( ok, comparison wise, I suspect TO has had more, but for the size of halifax, 6 shootings in less than 10 days is mad.) so glad we left.

Picked up a cute ceramic dish today, some embroidered towels with tower of london and eiffel on them, a bathmat that looks like a skinned bright blue muppet, socks with colorful toes and heels, a second pillow. I'm kinda enjoying decorating, it's a place I want to feel nice and homey.

Dog scared the life out of me, by walking silently under the frosted glass kitchen table and all I saw was a shadow. I look behind me and expect to see someone casting that shadow, and no one's there. ACK! oh..whew. Just dog.

I go to visit York on Wednesday, I might get out to U of T tomorrow or thursday. Found the union station cycling center but the info place with route maps and stuff is closed due to the strike. Saw someone wheel away the last folding bike at Canadian Tire, and what I saw, it's NICE. Want. There's a dedicated cycling route from my house to U of T, and a foldy bike means I could at least transit to even bike paths and the like. a folding bike just makes more sense, we have tiny elevators and not exactly gobs of room in the place, so it can at least be tucked away in the front closet too.

I actually liked riding, but again, bad experience in Vancouver as spandex jockeys rode up on my ass, and cars ignored the bike lanes, which were ill located.

I'd have kept the bike just to ride the seawall, though.

I have probably around 30 lb to lose. ech. However, given that the TTC subway is much like london: stairs! and the availability of healthy cheap food, rather than fattening cheapfood, I might shake them yet. I would like to look a little less chubby hobbity, and buy nice shirts: all the weight gain is in my belly and arms. How cruel. I look like a fat frog.

Anyway. It'll all come together. I walk more here than I did in halifax, by far. I gained all the weight I lost on the trip, it came back when I got so sick. Blah.

I am really digging being able to redecorate the apartment. I am keeping in mind the potential overseas move thing, so nothing big or heavy is on my list alone.

By sept: taking language classes and maybe a math upgrading class and going to the gym.

Little steps in rebuilding life I lost in Halifax. I'm happier these days, and so is R.

Didn't make it to U of T today, but I'm off to York in the morning, maybe then swing by U of T in the afternoon.

Turns out the bike I'm eyeing is a popular model here, due to it's foldy size and there's a dedicated bike lane right from my door to campus, so that's probably the way to go for most of the year if I do U of T.

In winter, there's a bus that runs that route too.

York would require a train ride and a bus.

I'm pretty equally torn on which one I'd really want to apply to and which one would be my second pick. Hopefully tomorrow there's answers.
