yanno what frosts my noodle today?

People who use "but I'm MILITARY" as some kind of free pass in life. Seriously. You're military. Thanks for serving your country but NEWS FUCKING FLASH, the same rules and procedures and things that apply to civilians STILL APPLY TO YOU. You are not some kind of special snowflake exempt from the routines of life because you're military. Stop using it as a fucking excuse why everyone should give you priority access in life. Not everyone you meet magically knows, either.

HONEST TO FUCK. It really pisses me off. I respect those who serve but some people throw it around like it means they're royalty or some fucking bullshit.

R's off at Toronto After Dark horror film fest. Slightly exhausting that he's not home till midnight tonight but eh, I'll get some time to myself in kind sans kid eventually anyway.

Bug did NOT want to nap after the gallery, took feeding, more feeding and some epic swaddling. He was exhausted but so awake.

Lovely day at the AGO. The staff fantastic. It was busy at the member's lounge with the two major exhibits on and there was a brief wait for a table, and ok, no problem, change and feed bug and a short wait and we were in, whilst another member gnashed her teeth and wailed that she NEVER gets in, and snorted and huffed at the staffer at the door. Well, be NICE and patient and WAIT.

Some people have some raging entitlement these days and it's not just the "kids these days" I see it in all ages. Gimme mine and mine alone. Me first.

Dunno which day I'm at the studio this weekend. Tired now, but need to go in.

one last thing: SO Glad I'm not doing the three year diploma, as most of my classmates doing that have found their ideas run have been vetoed in favor of what the professors WANT, not their own artistic vision and statement, with failures to fully comply resulting in "do you want a reference letter or not". Because lo, gods forbid GBC produce work that isn't identifiably in the GBC style. Seriously, technically they're a good program, creatively they're shit.

People have been told "jewelery isn't political/your idea's too political", and Pam finished a piece and said "it looks gorgeous but its not me," and she's right.

I'm happy that my self inflicted design ideas and collection project aren't subject to validation by the "design authorities", and I really do not give a flying monkey's shiny butt if I get references from them. Because, I'm doing fine on my own.

I get my hackles up when this sort of crap happens. Its one thing to say "you don't have the technical skill yet to do this" or "this may not assemble the way you'd like" or "here's a design flaw" but saying "no, I want you to do it MY way, your thesis project MY WAY" is artistic bullying. They had their chance to create their vision and style but now? You'd better toe the fucking line.

Best to keep it to safe topics and tidy unobtrusive design ideas lest you upset people. My clients aren't the conservative cocktail ring and engagement ring set. People come to me because I'll tackle an offbeat idea with glee. Because I'd rather do something different instead of playing it safe.

I feel bad for the people trapped in the third yr program where they'd like to be making jewelery but are caught in the perpetual spin cycle of sketching and getting validation at every step. I've at least made things. I'll be doing so with my own supplies.

( granted some people are terrible at design concept in our program but still, the overlording does not sit well with me.)

I was told I had a knack for design, by one of the profs but she doesn't do thesis approvals. I would be constantly digging in my heels,I'm sure. I don't like to be pushed to sanitize an idea when I know what I want to do.

Ok, time to write and design sketch before Bug wakes. I know what I want to get done at the studio tomorrow and tuesday...:D
