Oct. 9th, 2013 12:17 pmWeird that I as a Canadian have a better understanding of what Obamacare/ACA is than so many on forums I've been too. One that I read but never post, one poster has spent more time BITCHING about ACA than actually trying to educate herself on it, and she isn't listening to anyone else either. Like, ok, we get that you think it's a hassle, welcome to adulthood, toots.
And so many people thinking it covers dental, vision...Um. Not unless you pick a plan that does.
It astounds me, yet it doesn't, that people are so vastly misinformed, but then there's never been a great concerted effort to talk over the right wing news nuttery at all. They didn't even fucking try.
I'll also add in a WTF that people are actually ANTI health care in some way so much so that they want to shut down government in a coup basically. I guess healthcare's supposed to be for the privileged, and oh noes letting the poors have basic care! is to me nothing more than some serious classism/racism at work. Welcome to Merica!
The right wing news machine still perpetuates the "year long wait for MRI in canada!" myth. No, it's maybe two weeks, maybe a month, most times within a week in major metro areas. Longer in rural areas but that's to be expected, I think. They perpetuate the myth that the government acts as the insurer clearing agent for all tests appointments procedures, because SOMEONE has to gatekeep, or we'll all go willynilly on the healthcare!!!!
Not so, chickens. The worst part of my hospital is them being a tad too eager to send tons of fundraising crap. No government agency has ever dictated my care.
Laughably, Glenn Beck wants to stomp off to canada, and I don't know if he's aware we're far more liberal than the US, with lax pot laws, regulated banking ( seriously), universal single payer health care and gay marriage. Why, we're what the blue states aspire to and every thing the red states fear! and you want to move here? Come up, we'll have so much fun with you till your head explodes.
