Class today was a guest speaker, my fave gem dealer in the city.:D Low key day otherwise. The cold saps my energy as much as anything.
Watched a documentary last night that was in dutch, subtitled in english and i'm happy to say I retain MUCH of what I have learned.
And on the verge of deleting a guy off FB for being a persistent eeyore fatalist. Every damn day, twice a day sometimes, its a long woe is humanity post about some injustice in the world and environment and basically we're all fucked. I want to point out he has a car, a house, food, THREE kids so um, if he's woe-ing about resource use....its dreary and miserable. I care but i don't care that much I guess. I want to ask what's stopping him from simply blowing his head off? Because dude, you're a downer. Big time. The world sucks. We get it. Toronto sucks, you still don't let up on that, either. Thanks for playing.

R was snooping fares to shanghai. I'd totally take a kid there. Maybe at 6-7. But we're not "waiting till they're grown" to travel. They come with. I don't entirely believe a life needs to come to a screaming crashing halt when kids arrive. They are in every country, so is the stuff they need and its our western worrywarty ways that tell us kids should be not seen or heard. Then we wonder why they're so ill socialized as teens. And so scared of their own shadow. I want to take this kid all over the world, cross canada by train again would be fun. rent a cabin this time. Go to china. Go to europe.
mind you I feel no urge to join the mommy martyr brigade where I stamp down my personality for the sake of the kid, where I become a mere entity in service to a child. Nope. I don't feel the need to show off my parenting choices in a forum for people to validate me. Mind you again, we aren't organic non vaxing "have a parenting PHILOSOPHY!" sorts. Aside from, well, we travel, I'm pretty much not fretting the rest of it. Our schools are good, our healthcare is good, vaccines are safe and we don't NEED to be organic because our food isn't so bad.
Of course this leads to some people talking to me like we have no clue. Its cute. Really. Humans have been at this for a long time. I see kids in every country, and I think we'll be fine. Frankly only one flight I've ever been on was occupied by a demon kid, the rest of the near 50 odd flights have been adults acting up and the kids angelic. So take that for what it is.
The ick is creeping in so I better wrap up, and maybe do some writing later. And tomorrow is Shao's studio visit to his place ( my production prof) but I am not sure I'll make it. weather/health.
