Jul. 5th, 2010 09:40 pmHere in Buffalo, having survived travel day 1. We stopped downtown on King at a still semi boarded up Starbucks, ( boo hiss windowsmashers) and then off to the train station. An interminable wait to board, but it was a fairly smooth sailing trip till we hit the border and AUGH, 2 hours wait while customs and immigration flailed about.
The hotel we're at is cheap, and NICE. We dumped stuff, then hit the mall nearby for food and getting a few things. Cheesecake cafe has insano portion sizes. Like, a plate of food that would be three meals worth back home. AUGH.
Stopped at a Clinique booth for sunscreen, since oddly it's hard to find here? and they had a decent bonus so bought a new lipgloss I'd been intending to get for months and the bonus isn't bad save for the noxious lipstick color!
Had a run in with an ATM that offered a choice of 10, 20 or 50 cash, so I picked 50. It denied it and said I had to pick something in 20 dollar denoms. SO WHY OFFER IT YOU WRETCHED MACHINE. I wanted to kick it out of spite, for "cake or death? cake? WE HAVE NO CAKE..."
Had a quick swim in the overly kiddie infested pool, and worked out the travel knots. Lost some weight since buying my suit but it's nice and has a skirt, hiding jigglyass.
Tomorrow, we'll go to the Kmart across the way, and then off to the airport nearby, a flight to Atlanta, then a flight to vegas.
I did bring some maille work but mostly it's a lazy holiday. I'll probably buy some makeup and a couple shirts in Vegas but nothing crazy. I don't need much. Got a couple small moleskines to do my dutch work in, because I don't want sheets of looseleaf all over. They're PINK! haha. I'm SUCH a girl.
just ordered moderate price room service, and I am being careful with the dining because there's some things in some US food that cause me great GI distress, and after a week in LA I was incredibly sick-toxic feeling so I'd like to avoid that. ( TMI? but being sort of bloaty and pasty and icky feeling was really unfunny.)
