Apr. 14th, 2010 01:34 amback on the sane eating trip again. if i don't have junk food in the house, i don't feel the urge to eat it.
well, aside from the kilo of hagelslag (choc sprinkles for bread) that delightfully arrived from Jenn in the netherlands, but it's one thing i'll never give up. i eat the stuff sparingly since it's hard to find.
dropped an inch off my hip size already. go me.
I'd made up a reference using the sizing charts for stores, to seek clothings this time and lo it worked, things fit! well sometimes they fit but just fit weird, but i was at least able to find clothes. I'll keep it updated as i find stores that carry what I fit. The variance is quite laughable, however. XL here, M there, large there...seriously WTF!
Looked at some condo listings today and i'm inspired that we can find a place in the area we like and the price range, i think. by the quick calculators online we qualify for 300k or so but we're looking at the 200-250k instead. We don't need lots of space, we fit nicely in 400sf now tho a roomier kitchen by a few feet would rock! and we don't WANT a house. No,really, it's possible to raise a kid in a good neighborhood that isn't A HOUSE. ( this idea that kids need full on houses, I don't get, parks and such are in insane abundance here.)
My one wish is for a place with an indoor pool/gym and near the TTC lines but other than that I'm flexible. however there's some weirdly laid out places and tres terrible decor in some of these! it's comedy gold.
But I think we can do it. Most include utils and even local phone and cable in the moderate condo fees and some have maintenance on site. I'll play along with the white curtains only law if they have working elevators and plumbing, to be honest.
We're also not worried about a place that rockets up in value. So long as it does't drop I don't care.
But this is something we got priced out of in Vancouver, and didn't want in halifax once we saw what it had to offer, and so this is pretty exciting, barely 8 months here and we can look at buying a place?
dutch classes going really well. I'm finding it easier to compose simple sentences and statements without much hesitation or fumbling. I can swing from dutch to english and back, and it doesn't throw me so much. i feel like i'm starting to understand more, the pieces fall into place. I don't know what I'll do after the 4th level, but there's three? two more I'd have to take to get a CEFR certificate, that is http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/LanguageSelfAssessmentGrid/en
Maybe by then hiring a tutor for practice or we'll see by the time i'm done. maybe i can hop over for a short course a couple times.
