Note to self, if you take a benadryl, in summer, drink lots of water. You're freaking dehydrated, you fool.

" Turns out you tourists aren't the only transient population sharingour city. Halifax is home to nine post-secondary institutions, with astudent body population in the tens of thousands---many who have "comefrom away" (that's Nova Scotian for "untrustworthy, possibly criminal, outsiders"), from such exotic locales as Guelph, Ontario."

Waiting for the elevator up, Sera met a small girl, maybe 4? who was fascinated by doggy! She was a bit fearful, and so didnt get too close, but mom had met Sera before and crouched down to give dog a good chin scratch.

Girl ordered sera to "lie down" but melty obstinate dog after a walk didn't have the inclination, much to the young lass's exasperation. Summer is rough on this pooch, lemme tell ya. ( I think we need to go throw dog in the lake. not deepest part but enough to get her to try swimming, she utterly detests being wet, not fearful of water, just doesn't like it.)

Anyway. Girl says "I'm gonna call you...KITTY CAT! BYE KITTY!" as two different elevators arrive and I nudge sera into the opposite, because Lass's voice was rather high pitched and that can sometimes annoy dogs so to avoid a tired dog and wired child encounter....

Sera's pretty good with kids tho. She just sat as the girl flapped and flailed and shrieked around her. A stroller got on our elevator as well and she happily licked the hand of the young lad who dangled it just with reach. It startled him, but mom was "relax, it's a friendly dog!" and he was groovy. Granted, Sera's bigger than the child so I can see how being that close would be just a shade unnerving with her big toothy smile.

But yeah, she's mellow around kids. We've conquered the Must Terrorize Pigeons, and she's just met squirrels for the first time and she thinks they're fascinating! and well, she gets a bit over enthusiastic around other dogs and does NOT, at all care for them sniffing her belly or ass, it just triggers her somehow.

That, I don't know where to start to fix. She needs socialization, but she wants it on HER terms. It always seems to result in hurt canine feelings and pissed off dog Sera and barking.

Weekend is almost here. We're going to blow through all our shoppers points, all nearly 250-300 bucks worth, and check out the Taste Of Danforth event, if only because you can enter to win a trip to Japan or Greece ( and we have some luck on that trip winnin' thing) . Next weekend, Toronto Zoo.

Union Station here is getting a major reno, which will be fantastic, people are really behind it because it's a rats nest and lacks traveller services. It's lovely to be in a city that understands heritage can't stand in the way of progress, but progress need not stomp heritage flat as a pancake, that they can co exist.

And I haven't been called a CFA for weeks now. It's utterly lovely! I'm not told "go back where I came from". Mind you, the maritimers tend to detest Toronto, but I daresay, I quite like it here. It has flaws, but nothing horrid. Crime rate about the same as Vancouver, maybe lower. Maybe in a few years I'll be tired of it but right now? Having a blast.

Talked to my grandma yesterday and practiced more of my dutch. Somehow speaking it with her really cements it in my head so I'm going to continue learning because she mentioned how nice it would be for me to visit her in Alberta and we could speak dutch together. Awwwwww.
