Writer's Block: Lights Out

In halifax the power went out rather frequently throughout the year for 1-6 hours at a stretch so we simply got used to it. If a storm was on the way, charge up the batteries, get the candles and flashlights and extra water as when the power went so did the running water, and wait it out.
In Vancouver, a taxi plowed into the power transformer outside our building we lived in at the time, so all the neighbors on our floor gathered at the landlords to listen to a wind up power radio and play Uno, and wait for power again.
