Was having a nice post work chat with a co worker when she'd gotten off work, until she dropped this gob-smacker: Those IMMIGRANTS are out to take over, and suppress our canadian ways, because we're too nice.

Namely, she is convinced all sikhs and muslims are mean and nasty and terroristy, and won't conform to canadian ways. ( because they still maintain, to varying degrees, some of their religious/social traditions.) More to the point, all those RCMP officers who want to wear a turban on duty. ( of which was an issue 15 years ago and only a small number of people.)

I was rather ill. Maritimers are SO fucking convinced that the furriners are out to destroy their ways that unless you say "according to YOUR STANDARDS, I am a foreigner and you don't want me here either."

Then they backstammer and say well, THEY don't mean it, they don't think that way.

Oh, halifax, FUCK YOU and your horrible bigoted, racist, homophobic, insular, xenophobic, half illiterate and fucking INBRED ways.

( I maintain that the smart ones left, leaving a vastly trashed gene pool of wall eyed hicks.)

Bead shops and grocery stores within walking distance! The shops. Oh dear GOD the shops.
The zoo! festivals! museums! science center.
Markets! open more than ONE DAY A WEEK.
Theme park thing, oh boy.

One of the first things we do is go up CN tower, I think.

Woke way early, but as much as I'm tired, I'd rather now just burn off some energy and get stuff done.

We have an estimate for how much gas will cost TO Toronto, and I'll be finding the camping gear too, ( we have tent, sleeping bag, pots) in case we camp along the way.

really need food and a shower.

Hope to pack a chunk of the kitchen and tackle the second bedroom, and my desk today. My days off are few, so I'd rather get ahead on packing, so I can start on cleaning.

Ok, I'm just really twitching to get outta here.

stuff shipped, call attempted ( no answer), food obtained, hacky sold, and shift dropped in my lap for 6-11 ( just a shorty) and so gonna have a nap, swing out the door for a coffee and off to this work.

I don't like getting called in because it usually plays havoc on my plans but a. need the cash, b. need the good job karma, c. short shift anyway.

It does mean that my "better get packing done FAST" is correct because my work is SO unreliable.

*upside: sold hacky paid for a tastylunch.
