Jun. 11th, 2009 04:24 am25 days till we're OUTTA Hellifax for good.
It still seems unreal. We're stressed to the gills over the somewhat shortened lead time+ financial stress but it's so very temporary. Lets just say there's good for me having a 30% discount and between the two of us, 225 bucks in shoppers points that we can use, especially if we find one with a passable grocery section.
It means marshalling up some resources, but we both resume work upon landing so that's ok. I'd probably start work after Dragoncon, but we'll see.
The apartment we're eyeing is walking distance to U of T, Toronto General and Childrens/Womens, what looks like a short transit hop or walk to Eaton Center/downtown, Union Station ( R's job is evidently across the street from.)
It means a return to getting jewelery supplies easier, and maybe bench access, language classes, tuition I can afford, shopping that isn't way out of town, maybe better mail service! SHort train rides to New york, montreal. Heck, I could again hop VIA to Vancouver and have extra days to spend in Jasper and the like. CLose to US airports.
It means more than one starbucks. It means bookstores, shows, concerts, and my head is fairly spinning that in 25 days this life of deprivation is over.
It means seeing friends more often as I know many do tend to wash through Toronto and montreal from time to time. And we have a few friends IN the area.
July will suck financially, but then we have august, dragoncon. ( no more dogleg flights to Halifax!)
It feels like the nightmare is over. OVER. It is. Its done. Three and a half weeks and we are finished with this and it will become a mere bad memory.
I just wish I'd not been so laid out unwell this week, I have so much sorting and packing to do. ACK.
